MeRT uses a proprietary brain wave analysis to identify the exact areas in the brain that are not functioning or communicating properly. People who have suffered a brain injury or concussion will have distinct biomarkers visible in EEG studies. Research has shown that people who have sustained a head injury will show patterns of low power in their Alpha brainwaves and higher power in their Theta and Delta brainwaves, which are slower functioning brainwaves.
TBI and Concussive symptoms can cause mental, emotional, and cognitive issues such as mood swings, memory problems, depression, and more. Through our MeRT treatment protocol, we will treat signs and symptoms of TBI and Concussions by correcting patterns of dysfunction in the brain.
TBI and Concussions are common in athletes who participate in contact sports and experience multiple hits to the head. Over time, these hits can affect the brain, resulting in cumulative damage and long lasting problems, such as post-concussive syndrome. Small or mild concussions due to normal life activities can also directly affect your brain function.
“What we’re finding is that the brain responds to insult the same way, whether it’s chronic sleep deprivation, whether it’s the mechanical injury of head-to-head contact repeatedly on a football field, or whether it’s being exposed to repeated blast injuries in the military or just direct contact with IEDs. The brain seems to be responding to these injuries the same way.
“For so many years now, there’s been this feeling of helplessness that concussions are just a fact of life and there’s not a lot that we can do. I think we’re starting to get down to, at a foundational level, the root cause of mechanisms of injury, which will lead us down the pathway of finding solutions.”
